Dear
Justin,
Where
do I begin this thank you letter? It is impossible to
convey the gratitude felt by myself, the housing group
staff and especially all of our clients whose lives have
been touched your kindness and the kindness of your
students and their families. However, I will give it a
try!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the
amazing and beautiful food baskets for both Thanksgiving
and
Christmas! Each basket was like an
elaborately wrapped gift filled with great food, gift
cards and often extra decorations, little gifts and
holiday cards. Not only did our clients receive a
holiday meal but they were shown that there are others
in the community who truly care about them. The
generosity your students and their families have shown
is one of the highlights of my time working here at the
shelter and I felt fortunate to be the
messenger giving out those lovely
baskets.
This past Thanksgiving we gave out 160
food baskets, half of which came from Amerikick
families. Last year we only gave out 95 food baskets.
Without your assistance, we would not have been able to
help these additional families. In the past we have not
given out food baskets in December, but with your help
over 70 families enjoyed a delicious holiday dinner. The
demand for food assistance continues to grow each month
in
our food pantry. In 2006 we served over
11,000 individuals. This is a 72% increase over last
year! Although we
have this increase in demand, our state
and federal food assistance has remained the same. We
are grateful that
Amerikick families have helped us meet
this increased demand for food assistance.
Thank you also, for the donation of toys
for our Community Toy day. Over 100 families were able
to receive gifts from this event and I'm sure there were
many happy children this holiday season because of your
generosity!
It is only through community support that
the Bucks County Housing Group can continue to work on
behalf of others in need. Thank you for
being an integral part of this support network and truly
making a
difference in the loves of others.
